Maroons win two WC games sparked by Mangels and Allen
Sidney’s Maroons moved into the Western Conference lead with 55 36 win over Alliance at Junior High and a 58 53 victory over Chadron. Mangels scored 20 in the first game and Allen 13 overall while Schubert Hinrichs and others contributed key baskets as Sidney held Alliance to eight free throws. In Chadron, Mangels led with 13 and Allen added 13, as Chadron’s Gay Thompson and John Heiser kept it close, the Maroons pulling away late in the third.
