Probation Set and Lump Sum Granted in Two Cases
District Judge John H. Kuns sentenced Henry Rosenthal to 18 months probation for a second offense of driving while intoxicated. Rosenthal paid a $300 fine and costs, with no license suspension. Kuns also approved a lump sum settlement of $2,492.84 in a suit by Ralph S. Hauer against Brinkerhoff Drilling Co. and Fidelity & Casualty Co. for injuries from an August 30, 1963, accident while working as a roughneck.

Sidney High School Band Presents Appreciation Concert
The SHS Band hosts an all community appreciation concert Sunday January 26 featuring the Wind Orchestra Stage Band and Symphonic Band. Directors Sid Phelps and Ron Reidler will be soloists with the Stage Band and the program includes Ballad For Trumpets. Admission is free and the show runs about one hour and fifteen minutes.

Four Parcels Denied Tax Exempt Status in Cheyenne County

Pioneer Woman Caroline Borcher Dies at 88 in Cheyenne County
Caroline Borcher of Pioneer, a Cheyenne County resident since 1914, died Saturday morning at 88. She leaves seven children, 25 grandchildren, and 53 great grandchildren. nine siblings preceded her in death, and her family has long been prominent in local activities.

Kenneth Miller Named Outstanding Young Farmer of 1964
Kenneth Miller age 32 of Gurley was selected by the Sidney Junior Chamber of Commerce as Outstanding Young Farmer of 1964. The announcement came during Farmers Night at the Legion Club rooms with Ed Haupt, Jaycees president, and about 45 attendees. Miller operates owned and rented farmland, is married with four sons, and belongs to Weyerts Lutheran Church. Robert Rauner spoke on the wheat program.

Jury Frees Kinnersley and Clears DWI Charge
In district court this week juries returned a not guilty verdict for William Kinnersley on a driving while intoxicated third offense charge. A separate case saw Judge John H. Kins direct a verdict against Wilbur Houser in a $5,000 will contest against the Houser estate. Jurors and witnesses ranged across Scotts Bluff and Cheyenne County with the term set to resume February 3.

More than 300 farmers and ranchers are expected in Sidney on Monday Feb. 3 for the annual stockholders meeting of the Sidney Federal Land Bank Association. Plans Advance For Sidney Days County Fair Board Officers
The Cheyenne County Fair Board reorganized for 1964 naming Merle Bobo as vice president and Arvin Nielson as treasurer. Fort Sidney Days board joined to plan the second Fort Sidney Days with a three-night rodeo, parade on Aug 10, Kids Day events, a smaller 4 H calf sale, a casss contest after the fair, and new bleacher seating with expanded parking. Frederick and Reimers earned all expense trips to a Chicago grain marketing clinic and tour sponsored by the Chicago Board of Trade for outstanding 4 H grain marketing records.

Funeral pallbearers honor Max Childers in Sidney
Nebraska highway patrolmen from the Sidney Police department filled in Tuesday afternoon for funeral services. Police officers served as honorary pallbearers for Max Childers who died unexpectedly Saturday of an apparent heart attack. Sgt. Mel Busekist from the Highway Patrol also served as an honorary pallbearer.
