Snow Moving Continues After Severe Nebraska Blizzard
Seventeen steam locomotives stalled between Sidney and North Platte required towing and servicing before pressure could build. Highway No 30 opened but travel remained risky as crews worked to restore fuel supplies and clear roads. Police urged stay at home unless urgent. Farmers arrived with chains and tow ropes to stocked towns as markets reported brisk meat demand and a war-era sense of need. A Sioux Ordnance Depot plow aided road clearance with workers Jack Strong and Carl Foulk, while Ted Reissner aided snow plow operations alongside Jim Moody.
