Snow Blamed For Accidents On Highway 19 North Of Sidney
Snow drift conditions Friday morning caused a two-vehicle collision on Highway 19 five miles north of Sidney injuring no one. Ray K Nelson in a 1940 Chevrolet stopped for a Nash Finch truck driven by Edwin P Smith, but the truck could not stop in time, causing about 200 in vehicle damage and tying up traffic as 25 cars detoured into adjoining fields. A separate incident on the same highway four miles north of Sidney involved a Model A driven by Bill Krueger struck by a northbound Chrysler. the Ford slid from a snow drift as the Chrysler left and the driver’s name was unavailable. An estimated 210 damage result ed to a 1942 Chrysler owned by Craig Mortuary of Sidney in a collision with a 1941 Chevrolet.

Reineke Funeral Held on Monday
Henry Reineke 86 died Friday at a niece’s home in Sidney Draw after an extended illness. Funeral services were held Monday at Craig Mortuary with Rev. Walter Jewett officiating. Burial will take place in Kansas City. he was born August 26, 1862 in Prussia Germany and had previously lived in Kansas City.

Retiring UP Sectionman Zamarripa Applies for Pension
Francisco Zamarripa, 58, a Union Pacific sectionman at Brownson, has filed for railroad retirement pay. He joined the railroad in 1917 as a sectionman at Sidney and stayed there until transferring to Brownson in 1947.

Fire Alarm System Up For Discussion
