Ads And Sales Tied Together In Drug Advertising

New York report says drug retail sales will reach 10 billion dollars in 1965, up from 9.2 billion in 1964. Charles R. Beall, NWDA president, urges aggressive newspaper advertising as the main sales driver, noting 75 to 85 percent of drugstore ad budgets flow to newspapers and that independents must build a local identity to compete with chains and department stores. He cites 1964 ad spending near 60 million and stresses a strong role for newspaper ads in growing store traffic and profits.
