Hospital Site To Be Discussed For Cheyenne County Hospital
The board of directors of the Cheyenne County Hospital Association will meet tonight to consider reacquisition of a site. Chairman Ira Steward said the property owned by Dr. and Mrs. Dorwart is partly developed for residential life and has state and federal health service approval. An elevation study by architect Frank McNett will be reviewed, with McNett deeming the site acceptable. Site costs, including filling, are projected up to two thousand dollars, with similar costs likely regardless of location. Federal Hill Burton aid is expected to be available, and Rep. A. J. L. Miller urges completing the application promptly to avoid delays, noting site acquisition as the main obstacle.

Spring Wheat Tests Poor In Most Sites In Nebraska
Spring wheat in eastern Nebraska usually yields about one third of winter wheat per acre, per a 10-year University of Nebraska study. Oats yield about 21 percent more pounds per acre than spring wheat. At North Platte, spring wheat fared less than eastern areas but outperformed some regions. Box Butte near Alliance showed better results, averaging 73 percent of winter wheat over 1945 to 1952. Central Nebraska often favors oats or barley. In northwest Nebraska, Mida Rushmore and Thacher are recommended varieties. Planting early, first week in April in the northwest, and fertile soil, improve spring wheat performance.
