Dorwart Land Selected For Hospital Site
A seven acre tract in southeast Sidney was chosen as the site for a community hospital by the Cheyenne County Hospital Association. More than $300,000 was raised in a local campaign, with matching funds anticipated under the Hill Burton Act. The Dorwarts donated land and agreed to sell an extra acre, bringing the total tract cost to about $2,500. Site preparations may approach that amount. Rites Thursday For Mrs. Haack
Services were held for Mrs. August Haack 56 of Potter died February 19 on a train near Barstow California from a heart attack. Rev Hy Dorn led the Sidney service at St Pauls Lutheran Church. Burial in Greenwood beside her son Clifford who died at a navy hospital in 1946. Anna Martha Jung born March 4 1896 in Wenedy Illinois married Rev. Herbert Graupner who died in the flu epidemic. Survivors include widower two daughters Edith Mrs Miller and Mrs L V Goding, one son Lloyd Haack, four grandsons and one granddaughter, three sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. George Messing Dies at 62 in Farm Accident
Mrs. George Messing, 62, died Thursday night from a brain concussion and other injuries after a fall at the Messing farm southeast of Sidney Thursday morning. Dr. C. B. Dorwart said she apparently fainted or fell while feeding chickens and remained in a coma throughout the day with little hope for recovery.

Cynthia Ann Hadden died one day after birth at a local hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at Gehrig Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Henry Monnich. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery. She is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hadden.

Clare Porter reports Cheyenne County led Nebraska in 1952 certified wheat seed production with about 5 000 acres and 80 000 to 100 000 bushels, surpassing Dundy County by 500 acres. Most seed planted was Cheyenne variety, cost slight per acre with yield gains offsetting price, and a Texas buyer even came to harvest to purchase seed.
