L. E. Wamsley was elected chairman of the 1953 Fort Sidney Days festivities at a general meeting Tuesday night. He succeeds J. Fred Thompson who served as chairman the past two years. L. E. Red Nelson was chosen secretary and Al Phare treasurer. Wayne Ayres and Jack Knicely return as officers, with the new board to plan the June 18 19 and 20 celebration. Potter County records report Cheyenne County’s first polio fatality of 1953, a 14 year old Potter boy Raymond Terrence Dindinger born May 17 1938 in Colfax Washington. He moved to Potter with his parents in 1946 and was a Potter High School freshman active in Cub Scouts Methodist youth and church choir. Survived by parents three sisters Ellen Madden Patricia Vicky Ann and brother Tommy. Private funeral at the Dindinger home Friday at 2 pm conducted by Rev O D Hoagland. Trailer Burned Here Thursday
Sidney's volunteer firemen rushed to a trailer fire at the Harry Brewer Trailer Court two miles east of Sidney at 8:35 am Thursday. A trailer was almost completely destroyed by flames. its residents were away. The trailer was owned by Mr. Brewer. Firefighters had little trouble reaching the scene despite a storm. Two grass fires east of town were reported Wednesday, both sparked by a train.

Mrs. J. W. Harper Dies After Long Illness
Word was received of the death of Mrs. Anna Harper after a lingering illness at her daughter’s home in Grand Junction Colorado. She was wife of the late John W. Harper Jr and aunt of Martin Schwartz who lives near Sidney. The Harpers with daughters Leona and Cora Ellen were former Sidney residents. Funeral arrangements were incomplete but interment will probably be in Denver Colorado.

Storm Shuts Sioux Ordnance Depot For Feb 20
An official notice from Col. L. G. Smoak states Sioux Ordnance Depot will be closed Friday February 20 due to blizzard conditions.
