WNUCC Opposes Burlington Train Removal in Alliance

The Western Nebraska United Chambers of Commerce unanimously opposed removing Burlington passenger trains 33 and 34 between Alliance and Brush Colorado. Directors expect little impact on the railroad’s move. WMCC also backed a Nebraska Senate bill to repeal mandatory property reappraisal every ten years. The group noted reappraisals are costly and not tax related. The meeting drew 472 attendees, a record, with discussions on state taxes and remarks by Gov. Norbert Tiemann’s aide. Virgil Boyd of Chrysler urged patience with federal safety standards and design testing, while Thane Davis became WMCC president and a committee was formed to pick a new first vice president.
