Nebraska groundwater fell in most counties in 1975
A 1975 groundwater report by University of Nebraska Lincoln and the U S Geological Survey shows irrigation boom and below average rainfall reduced recharge, with 82 of 93 counties recording declines. Box Butte and Chase led drops over two feet. Big Blue River Basin and areas around O Neill Imperial and Alliance saw notable declines.
