College president uses old card table as desk

ASAP program helps Scotts Bluff drinkers via court-linked treatment

In Scotts Bluff, Garden and Morrill Counties the Alcohol Safety Action program requires offenders to undergo pre sentence investigations and tailored plans. Judges push for treatment to keep offenders employed and off welfare, with success: about 65 percent of 1100 participants are problem drinkers and only 16 percent reoffend. The program, funded initially by the state and now self supporting, emphasizes counseling, education, and referrals to facilities when needed.

Colorado pair held in Nebraska counterfeit case
