The Telegraph notes owners in Paying Districts 13 through 18 can pay all or part of assessments by February 1 without interest. After Feb 1, rates rise to six percent and delinquent payments incur nine percent, boosting city profit and reducing bonded debt. Property owners are urged to pay early to save money.
A banker advises gifting U S Savings Bonds for Christmas. The bonds offer growing value with time and protect against inflation while being practical for every family member. The message promotes saving money and a lasting present that gains value the longer it is held.

The J C Penney Company Board authorized a special two weeks extra salary for all full time associates who have been employed for the full year 1947 and proportionately for part time and those under a year. It is not a Christmas bonus and is non recurring, given for the current unusual business conditions. The company uses a thrift and profit sharing plan linked to earnings rather than a traditional Christmas payout. Old Dependable Your Mom and Dad probably bought their diamond and wedding ring at The Gift Shop.
An advertisement promotes a G. Electric chime clock priced at 2050 dollars. The copy invites readers to view the clock at the Gift Shop and mentions quarter hour chimes and a catchy slogan about bed Pobbie.
