Sidney man 90 fatally struck by car at city intersection
Swan Dedrick 90, lifelong Sidney resident, died after being struck near Eighth Avenue and Jackson Street by a car driven by John Ahlm. He died of a skull fracture about twenty minutes after hospital arrival. An inquest is planned. Dedrick, Sweden-born, longtime Sidney resident and former mayor, is survived by his wife Lillian and two children Edgar and Mrs. Walter Davis, with three other children predeceasing him.

Three Car Wreck Injures Man In Potter
A three car crash in Potter Saturday afternoon injures Kenneth Thompson, an REA employee, who suffers a dislocated shoulder and faces reckless driving charges. Sheriff W W Schulz says Thompson ran red flares and wrecked his car, causing about $600 damage. The wreck occurred in front of the locker plant. Fred Elmquist pulled onto Highway 30 and Mrs Archie McMillan could not avoid Elmquist’s car. Ambulance transported Thompson to Sidney for treatment where his shoulder was set before release.

Union Pacific adds a Pullman and diner to trains No. 14 eastbound and No. 13 westbound. The new service aids Sidney to Omaha travel with No. 14 arriving in Omaha next morning for a full day. No. 13 departs Omaha at night arriving Sidney early next morning. The Los Angeles to Omaha Pullman car seats twelve sections plus a drawing room. passengers on No. 14 may remain in Omaha until 7:30 a.m. per Agent Whitmire.

Banner Phone Line To Start This Week
Construction of the Banner county telephone line will start this week according to Otto W Fuerst general manager of the Platte Valley Telephone Corporation. Materials have arrived including poles and wire and weather permitting actual construction will start next Friday Dec 26. It will include 40 customers with more being added and will operate through the Gering switchboard. It is 35 miles long.

County ACA Office Plans Saturday Closures Countywide
Beginning Saturday January 3 the Cheyenne county Agriculture Conservation office will close on Saturdays. County chairman Arno Thomas says the Saturday closure will be uniform across all Nebraska county ACA offices. Previously the office closed on Wednesday afternoons but after January 3 will close only on Saturdays.
