The St Patricks Academy Irish defeat St Marys Cheyenne 47 to 19 for their fourth win of the season. Gene Durbin led with 24 points as Heaton and Grasle added, while the Irish reserves won 24 to 21. Next game hosts Big Springs.

Legion's Cage State Offering Full Program
The American Legion Post 17 sponsors a season of weekly basketball at City Auditorium starting Tuesday December 22 led by Jack Bentley. Three games each Thursday and a Friday game on January 2 with seven teams including Gurley Kimball Lodgepole and Sidney groups. Two rounds determine a champion with a playoff and possible District AAU bid. Trophies for first and second. admission 50 cents adults 25 cents children.

Ackerman Wins Football Letter at Nebraska
Robert Ackerman of Sidney earned his football letter at the University of Nebraska this year. A halfback with two years remaining, he starred at Sidney High School and played football in the Army before college. Western Nebraska officials praise him as a fine triple threat back. Junior Collopy of Scottsbluff also lettered on the Cornhusker squad this year.

Donald Finch a Garden County High School senior and Oshkosh football player was severely burned December 4 in a furnace explosion at the Oshkosh Methodist church. After adjusting the furnace he went to choir practice but returned when he smelled gas, triggering the blast. he received hospital treatment in Oshkosh.
