The sleet storm damaged Northwest ern Bell lines in Nebraska and Iowa, with over 5 000 poles down in each state and about 100 000 miles of wire out of service. Repair crews from multiple states rushed in, deploying 750 workers to restore service despite deep snow and muddy roads.
