Sidney chamber backs uniform Christmas tree display plan
The Sidney chamber of commerce approved a uniform display plan for small six foot trees in flagpole socks along sidewalks. Eighty five merchants will participate, trees to be kept up through Christmas with optional night lighting. The effort is part of the Sidney Womans club Christmas tree project for gift giving and Eve celebrations.

Chappell Hi Takes Final Game Of Year
The Sidney high school football team closed the 1924 season with a 34 to 6 defeat by Chappell. Bentley scored Sidney’s lone TD as Chapell powered to six touchdowns, drawing the largest season crowd with half from Sidney. Seniors Wait, Thomas, Bentley, Clark, Brown, Spearow, Vowers and Griswold end their Sidney careers. four may return next fall. Sidney finished 2–6–1 in a tough schedule including North Platte, Alliance, Sterling, and Chappell. Basketball practice starts soon with four lettermen: Wait, Bentley, Clark, and Sidney Poole.

Robbery attempts at the Sidney high school led officers to fingerprint every student after intruders pried open the principal and superintendent offices and unlocked a safe. Two weeks earlier the Kidney Battery and Electric shop was robbed of 1,400 worth of radios and batteries.

In Omaha at the Western Baseball League park the Omaha Olympics defeated the Sidney Independents 25 to 0 before about 4,000 fans. Coyote Hunt Set for Bunker Hill Sunday December 7
William Gross announces a large coyote hunt in the Bunker Hill precinct on Sunday December 7. Hunters meet at the Bunker Hill school house at 8 30 a m, divided into four groups, rifles and dogs barred, shotguns only. Coyotes are plentiful in the area with several animals reported on farms. In Sidney Draw John Schnell is said to have captured 22 coyotes this fall while George Hockerson has 42, with Hockerson reportedly turning down a 250 offer.

First National Bank of Sidney, closed since May 1921, ends receivership as Harry G. Wilson, receiver, returns unclaimed funds totaling about 2000 dollars. The bank paid dividends totaling 43 1/4 percent on deposits after liquidation. most assets sold to C. S. Radcliffe, including building, barber shop, hotel annex, notes, mortgages, and fixtures. Wilson plans rest at Hebron for about a month.

County to hear petition on Sheriff McDaniel claim Friday
Cheyenne county commissioners plan a special Friday session to consider petitions from about 400 to 500 residents urging re opening the Sheriff McDaniel claim of 1656 dollars. The matter comes after county vigilance committee activity and after payments demanded from First National Bank bondsmen to cover county funds. 2000 Kiddies To Get Candy Treat At Sidney Tree
A candy treat for 2000 children will be distributed at Sidney’s first municipal Christmas tree event. The 25 foot tree will be lit and set up at an as yet undecided location. Activities begin at 5 PM Christmas Eve with the candy distribution following the program. The second song list includes Joy to the World and related verses.
