Lake McConaughy Giant 45 Foot Houseboat Launch
Ogallala residents William Padley and son in law Don Kuhlman launched a 45 foot by 25 foot houseboat at Lake McConaughy on August 19. The two pontoon craft totaling 25 000 pounds support a 12 person sleeping capacity with two 45 horsepower motors. The event drew local spectators and christening champagne as the craft slid into Big Mac waters at 2 22 p.m. MDT after a lengthy road parade and crane-assisted launch. The project, designed by Kuhlman and powered by Musgrove Construction, marks a record entry for Big Mac and solidifies its fame among boating enthusiasts.
