Sidney Nears Parimutuel Racing Start in 1953
Sidney chamber leaders discussed bringing parimutuel horse racing to Cheyenne County with Nebraska Racing Commission members. A half mile fair grounds track would need conditioning and barns plus an official veterinary building, with pari mutuel facilities. Scottsbluff County Fair in Mitchell already offers the sport, and Sidney would join Nebraska centers in Omaha Lincoln Madison Columbus and Mitchell as a potential breaking point between eastern tracks.
