Rites for SOD Worker Robert A Murphy Friday
Funeral services for Robert A. Murphy 69 will be held Friday at 9 AM at St. Patrick’s Church Sidney with a Rosary at 7:30 PM Thursday at Gehrig Funeral Home. Burial at Scottsbluff. Murphy died Tuesday after a six week hospital stay following years of illness. Survivors include his widow Mary F Hanley six children and several siblings across Nebraska Texas and Washington.

Kansan Dies Here Tuesday in Sidney Hotel
Delmar W. Cook 40 of Hays Kansas died of a heart attack Monday morning in a Sidney hotel. He had recently come to work for an oil firm and was found by a hotel clerk after breakfast. Funeral services and burial were to be in Hays with Gehrig Funeral Home handling arrangements. He is survived by his wife Cora and his parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cook. Born January 7 1912 in Hays he spent most of his life there.

Oil Workers Eligible For Defense Housing In Sidney Area
Roger Holm of the Federal Housing Administration announced changes in defense housing eligibility for the Sidney Nebraska Defense Area. Labor Day holiday auto wrecks report no fatalities
Weekend accidents across the region caused substantial property damage but no injuries or deaths. City Opens Bids for Five Street Improvement Projects

Three hundred eighty two Lodgepole High School alumni gathered Friday for the first triennial reunion. Attendees from nine states, led by California's thirty, enjoyed lunch, reminiscences, a 560-person banquet, and speeches by 1913 graduates Guy Tate and George Barlow. Barlow attended with former teacher Miss Valeska Neubauer who spoke. A gift was presented to Supt. L. E. Lydiatt and wife by their son Jerry. The evening closed with a dance and plans for a 1955 reunion.

Union Pacific completes a westward yard extension with a three track bridge over a drainage ditch near the city, costing about $75,000. Trainmaster W. E.
