Education coordination hampered by UNL ruling
Lincoln UNL ruling by the State Supreme Court could curb the University of Nebraska Board of Regents authority and complicate the work of the Unicameral and the Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education. Commission chairman Sam Jensen warns a new law may be needed to require the university to share data for the commission's uniform data system and to clarify legislative power over role and mission statements. Legislators say no major changes in university relations are anticipated.

Lincoln Senator Says Nebraska Educators Must Fight Aid Vote
UPI reports Senator Frank Lewis of Bellevue urged Nebraska educators to roll up their sleeves and slug it out to win the November 1978 election on state school aid. He hopes enough signatures will place the school aid question on the next general ballot and allow voters to decide. Lewis labeled Senator Donald Dworak as inconsequential and called Gov. James Exon and S H Brauer of the Nebraska School Improvement Association part of “The Three Musketeers” in opposition to the aid measure.

Exon Provocative Spend-On Label Draws Fire in Nebraska Press
Lincoln UPI report notes The Omaha Republican magazine labels Gov J James Exon as Gov Spend-On in its August issue. The four page analysis uses charts and commentary to paint his seven year tenure as a period of free spending, while GOP chair Anne Batchelder says an aggressive bid to attack Exon's administration is timely rather than a gimmick.
