An apparent new oil field is being opened in northwestern Cheyenne County by Petroleum Inc of Denver. The No 1 Jacobsen well has a production casing and aims for completion, nine miles north of Potter, near fields including West Frei which ranks among Nebraska's top 25 producers. Daily statewide oil output for the week ending Aug 18 stood at 69,311 barrels as August continues a steady pattern.
