Varied Cheyenne County Fair set to break records next week
The shortened 1962 Cheyenne County Fair runs Sunday to Wednesday with rodeos, vaudeville, and the Forsythe Dowis Carnival. Governor Morrison will close the event on Wednesday Aug 22 as up to 140 cowboys vie for a $4000 purse. Kansas City Mother and Daughter Injured in Crash
A Kansas City Missouri mother Mary Anne Berry 26 and her daughter Judy were treated at Memorial Hospital for minor injuries after their 1959 Oldsmobile rear ended a county road bound flatbed truck six miles east of Potter at 9 am. Darel L Nightingale of Kimball drove the 1948 Chevrolet truck eastbound and slowed to turn left. Damages totaled about 800 to the Berry car and 20 to the truck. Mrs Berry, another child, and the truck driver were uninjured.

Man Pleads Guilty To Intoxication After Highway Stroll
Thomas J. Bailey of Omaha wandered along Highway 30 near the Bay station east of Sidney causing a commotion. Deputy Morris says he was arrested around 3 p.m. and arraigned in county court this morning, pleading guilty to intoxication and beginning a five day jail term.

Damage High In Accidents
Highway patrol investigated three accidents Tuesday and early Wednesday. A 1958 Chevrolet wagon driven by Ralph Bauer of Lodgepole rolled in a ditch after brake failure, with $400 damage but no injuries to Bauer or his mother Violet. A two car crash on Highway 30 near Sidney damaged a 1956 Ford by Terrell Spiker after a Cadillac, Gary Tuggle, stopped for a turn. Ford damage about $140, while the Cadillac had no damage. A 1956 Ford driven by David Campbell of Spruce Street Gurley left the road, striking a concrete slab with $500 damage and no injuries.

Speeders In Cemetery Do Some Damage
Vandalism at Greenwood Cemetery was found by City Park Superintendent Frank Smith after two cars raced Thursday night. The lead car veered and struck two small tombstones, dislodging one and chipping the other, in the east part of the cemetery near the gate. Police Lt. Ervin Smith and deputies filed casts of tire tracks and alerted area body shops to watch for a car needing a front end alignment. Anyone with information should contact police or the sheriff’s office.
