Irrigate Lodgepole Valley Could Transform County Economy

The Lodgepole valley irrigation tests on several farms aim to prove pump irrigation feasible and profitable. If successful, vast land in the valley and Sidney Draw could be brought under irrigation, boosting population, crop yields, cash income, and regional industries including sugar canneries, cheese and flour mills, and meat production. Local observers advocate studying green peas as a potential rotational crop to support a blossoming irrigation-driven economy.
