Northwestern Bell seeks higher Nebraska telephone rates

The Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. asks the Nebraska Public Service Commission for rate increases citing inflation and rising costs. L. O. Arstad, the general manager, says wages for Nebraska employees rose and that 5 300 Nebraskans are part owners with average investments of about 8420 dollars. He notes overall living costs up 89 percent while rate revenues grew 32 percent, and that it will be necessary to present factual support before setting new rates. He adds the company does not want higher rates but inflation forces action to maintain service and investor returns.
