Five Hurt In Two Head-on Accidents In County Fair Week
Five people were injured in two head on collisions on Highway 30 in Cheyenne County on Thursday afternoon. A 1950 Hudson driven by William Delzer of Blackfoot Idaho collided with a 1951 Hudson driven by William H. Richard of Atlantic Iowa near Potter, causing major damage and multiple fractures. Richard suffered a fractured right leg and foot and several ribs, while Delzer and his brother Chris, both of Kimball, sustained facial injuries and possible back injuries. A second crash 4.1 miles east of Sidney at 2:00 p.m. injured Mrs. George Lee and her daughter Mrs. Wilma Heinse of Anthon Iowa and Sioux City Iowa respectively, with cuts and bruises.

Red Chief Wheat Spread Alarming Warns Nebraska Growers
The Nebraska Grain Improvement Association warns that the spread of Red Chief wheat and similar varieties with undesirable baking characteristics is alarming. Cement Block Method Saves Army Vehicle Storage Costs
William Rocontes of the Sioux Ordnance Depot proposed using standard cement blocks with wooden shims to block six wheel vehicles, replacing fabric benches. The Efficiency Awards Committee approved the idea, saving an estimated $9,848 to date, and Rocontes received a $270 check. The method may be adopted at other installations storing vehicles.

The 1952 Cheyenne County Fair opened with a large crowd viewing exhibits and stock car racing. C Lafler won the feature event after a 12 lap run, Bob Lafler placed second, Cloyce Claar third, and Jim Clothier had a mid race crash. Franzen was hospitalized after a heat accident. Curley Doggett set fast time in 27.5 seconds but lost the trophy dash to Ray Martin.
