Six Street Improvement Districts Approved by City Council
The city retains E. Y. Grupe of Scottsbluff as special engineer to oversee six building districts planned for completion in the coming months. Two additional districts remain tentative, including a 36-foot concrete slab on 13th Avenue. Districts slated for action include 30, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 41 with paving, curbing and gutters in various streets. A protest arose over District No. 36 on 19th Avenue while District 37 would widen 12th Avenue and install concrete paving with integrated curb on the north side.

Wheat Samples Sought For Cheyenne County Fair Show
Wheat samples for the Cheyenne County Fair wheat show are solicited by the committee. Entry day is next Wednesday, Aug. 20, or they may be left at Cheyenne County Non Stock on East Illinois St. The committee aims for the largest show yet as Cheyenne County is noted as Nebraska's top wheat grower.

Potter PTA To Be Set Up In Schoolhouse
A meeting is planned for 8 o'clock Monday night in the Potter Schoolhouse to elect officers and organize a Potter branch of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers. Mrs Ralph Hammond led initial steps last spring, and a nominating committee was elected. The district consolidation motivates forming the PTA to promote fellowship and cooperation across the larger district. All friends and parents of School District 9 are urged to attend.

Mutual Company to Open Claim Office in Sidney
State Farm Mutual Insurance will establish a claim office in Sidney. R B Welch says the office will operate from the new West Illinois street building by Frank Loch and serve Cecil L Anderson as claims supervisor with John Scholl as local agent. Welch attended a meeting in Gering with other agents affected by the new offices.

Damage-Rich Week With Three Semi Accidents In Area
Three more semis were damaged in two crashes near Dalton and Peetz Colorado during the week. No injuries were reported. Eva S Tyson of Ibff Colorado drove a 1950 GMC and trailer off Highway 19. a trailer swung free and rolled into a borrow pit. In the second crash two oil laden tractors collided near Peetz. one load carried 5900 gallons of crude oil. Both drivers escaped injury.

Plans Given Final O. K. This Week for Sidney Hotel Bid
Final plans for Sidney's fifty-one room community hotel are approved. Bids will be opened Tuesday September 9 after a raise of about 255 thousand dollars, with mortgage financing to follow. Design Inc of St. Louis designed the hotel site at 9th Ave and Jackson, which features three upper floors of rooms and a large lobby area. Existing hotels are crowded as oil and gas activity boosts itinerant trade. operator selection remains open.
