Sidney School Program and Buildings Are Revamped
Superintendent Russell J. Pedersen announced a wide set of changes for the Sidney Public Schools this year. A new senior high addition adds ten classrooms and a large cafeteria, with team teaching in social studies and shared duties by Elmer Hartmann and Charles Brown. Junior High gets a new library run by Miss Judy Stower with assistants. 3,000 books prepared for September. Band and chorus restructuring separates Junior High bands by grade level, while the senior high program remains. New subjects include business law economics and a Personal Use Typing course for ninth graders. Other upgrades span classroom refurbishments, library renovations, and improved facilities at South Ward Frances Willard Central and Junior/Senior Highs. Expanded study time and a 3:00 to 3:30 activity period aim to boost athletics without delaying classes.
