Sidney Band earns superior at District VI music contest
The Sidney High School band received a superior rating for playing and an excellent for sight reading at the District VI music contest in Chadron. The girls glee club also earned an excellent, with other honors going to the Dalton saxophone trio and Gurley cornet solo. One accident marred the trip as Kathryn Pierson fractured her ankle en route to the glee club performance.

Hay Fire Destroys Barn Hay on Helfrich Farm
Fire destroyed nine to ten tons of hay and fencing at the Helfrich farm two miles south and a half mile east of Sunol yesterday afternoon. Fire crews from Sidney and Lodgepole fought the blaze. Origin of the fire is undetermined.
