Headquarters 933d anti aircraft artillery battalion in Yokohama announces Private First Class Lloyd L. Nelson of Shafter has converted from a soy soldier to an anti aircraft artillery crewman. Nelson enlisted in the Army February 12, 1948.
The Division of Fish and Game sets 9 a.m. opening for upland season as 64 000 pheasants are released, an all time high ahead of last year. Quail and rabbit seasons run through late December with daily and weekly bag limits and varied start dates.
Board met November 8 9 10 1948 at Kern County. Actions include approvals of minutes warrants and contracts bonds and bids transport and road work permits licenses and name changes. Several hearings and transfers detailed with officials appointed and election canvasss completed.
At a Leslie L. Robinson Post meeting 213 American Legion voted to stage the season’s first teen age dance and party. The November 26 event will be at the Woman's Club House with invitations to all Shafter area teens and their parents.
George L. Dad Howe, 94, left Thomason, Georgia with $5 three months and two days ago and pedaled to Los Angeles earning three cents along the way. His wife Willie Edith, 35, planned to join for a honeymoon but stayed home. For the return trip he plans to install a motor.
