The California Taxpayers Association reports Kern County levies for counties, schools, and special districts at 18 307 822 for the current year, up 29 percent from last year and 419 percent from 1941 42. County and district totals show increases across city excluded statewide patterns.
Jerome Cargill presents The Follies of 1948 at the Fox Theater Bakersfield on Wednesday March 17 at 8 30 p m. directed by Peter West of New York to benefit Kern County Society for Crippled Children. Bakersfield Woman's Club sponsors a cast of 125 with costumes by Cargill's and dramatic and comic numbers. The event aims to be a premier social occasion and invites all to attend for the crippled children's fund.
The Fish and Game Commission schedules a two day meeting April 9 and 10 1948 at the California State Building Los Angeles California. Officers employees public agencies private citizens and interested parties may present recommendations on orders regarding birds mammals or any species through that meeting. Executive Officer Emil J Nott Jr filed the notice with the Secretary of State March 3 1948.
