A sermon on Peter's Mount experience in Matthew 17 1 9 14 18 urging believers to seek spiritual sight of Christ before service. It highlights a divine testimony that Jesus is the beloved Son, the impotence of disciples without faith, and the Savior's power to meet needs in the valley.

The Shafter city police department adopted the Henry system of fingerprint identification this week under Laur ence Kaugiman. Plans are underway to create a single print file to aid in controlling crime. The system, used by many large forces, allows easy checking and access to a complete record of anyone arrested locally. All persons apprehended for offenses serious enough will be fingerprinted in the future.
In a Thursday assembly at Shafter High School the General football squad received gold footballs for completing the 1938 season undefeated in league play and earning undisputed Sierra League championship status. Powell McCoy received an all American blanket as the outstanding senior. many players earned letters and gold footballs while Don Robesky and Earl Sargeant were noted as guest sneakers. Coaches were William White for the Generals with Eugene R Ford assisting. Ford also led the Colonel team organized late in the season.
A four wheel trailer built on a car chassis was completed in the farm shop at Shafter High School. Students are now working on bleachers seating 400 and 50 hurdles for track season.
Equipment including boilers capable of 500 pounds is being moved into the Shafter oil field headquarters of Superior Oil Co. Oil men indicate activity may signal upcoming plans, amid broader calls for regulatory small loan laws and lender oversight in California.
