Examinations Open For Labor Department Posts
The Civil Service Commission announced open competitive exams for supervising inspector at 3800 dollars per year senior inspector at 3209 dollars and inspector at 2600 dollars in the wage and hour division of the department of labor. Applicants must have industry experience as an employer official or employee representative involved in improving working conditions or enforcing labor laws. Limits are 25 to 52 years. Applications due February 10 with the Civil Service Commission in Washington. For more information contact secretary Civil Services Board of Examiners at the Shafter post office.

Shafter City Council Approves Franchise for Electric Utility
The Shafter City Council adopts Ordinance No. 24 granting San Joaquin Light and Power a long term franchise to construct and operate electricity infrastructure within the city.
