Inquest Follows Death of Infant Thursday
An inquest was held at Janzen Funeral home into the death of two month old George William Hukill who died in his sleep with his parents Ollie St. George Hukill and wife Shafter farm workers. Authorities believe suffocation may have caused the death after the infant slept soundly at 3 a.m. and was found dead later.

Glenn O Nay and his wife settled into their recently completed residence on Faber street in the Mannel tract during the past week. Mrs Dee L Stoops, formerly of Shafter, visited Tuesday and spoke of her husband’s growing medical practice in Bakersfield. A local pistol shoot at the county range near Bakersfield featured several Shafter participants and was assisted by Bakersfield police officer Frank Berens and his wife.

Christmas Party Planned At Farm Workers Camp
Shafter Farm Workers camp prepares a December 24 party for about 5000 Kern county children. Charles Barry says all county kids are invited, especially migratory and farm families, with NBC airing a one hour program from the camp at 5 PM. Hogs Purchased for School Farm Show Animals
Twelve cross bred Hampshire and Berkshire feeder pigs were bought from Knox Nicholson of Ivanhoe and twenty five purebred Hampshire feeder pigs were purchased from H C Smith of Visalia. The pigs will be raised for the livestock show to be held in early spring.
