Auto accident reporting rules expand property damage limit
California changes in reporting under the 1967 act raise the property damage trigger from 100 to 200 dollars and shift many reports to self insurance. DMV notes most drivers are exempt from license suspension, but any accident with bodily injury or 200 dollars or more damage remains reportable SR 1. Death or injury cases still require full reporting. Born with eyes open unlike many animals, the porcupine is noted.
