Kern County farmers under the 1947 Agricultural Conservation Program have resumed activities after a temporary suspension due to funding uncertainty. Chairman W H Parsons says surveys by county offices will gauge work performed in the first five months and indicate funds for the rest of 1947.
Former Army nurses may still apply for Regular Army Nurse Corps commissions as the deadline has been moved to September 30. Col. Leslie W. Jefferson announced the change for the Southern California District at Fort MacArthur. Lt. M. C. Arthur at Bakersfield recruiting station offered further information.
Safeway Stores announces special awards and trophies for 4 H Club and Future Farmers participants in California State Fair livestock exhibits. The fair runs August 28 to September 7 in Sacramento with $18 500 in premiums. A silver tray is listed as the top stock parade award. Safeway has long provided trophies in showmanship and stock parade.
