The Saline Jaycees host a Friday to Sunday Rodeo at Farm Council Grounds with profits aiding community services. On Monday the Volunteer Firemen stage a long-awaited Circus at Henne Field to fund better benefits for widows and injured workers in Saline.
Surgical patients at Saline Community Hospital this week include Clyde Desbrough Dean Hunt and Mrs Irene Mehler with addresses in Saline area. George Martin at Saline Hospital is also under medical treatment. St Joseph Mercy Hospital lists Mrs Walter Moore Arthur Sturm Mrs Mary Wahr Karl Bredernitz Vernie Jervis Roy Dechert Henry Lansky Mrs Lottie Hodge Chris Dieterle and Damon Hobbs son of Mr and Mrs Harold Hobbs.
Three original members of Saline Community Hospital’s building program finance committee return to lead fundraising. Clifford Simmons of Hoover Ball and Bearing becomes a committee member along with retired Hoover VP Meister and Dr Gordon Prout former chief of staff now on the new panel. Other local and area residents join as committee members to engage area donors and coordinate the campaign.
A Saline Area United Fund bus, funded by Ford plant contributions, serves Washtenaw County including Saline, transporting mentally challenged children to training centers in Ann Arbor each school day. The vehicle is wheelchair accessible with a hydraulic platform.
Dr. Paul Gerigk, who left Saline for West Germany last August, will arrive in Chelsea at the end of August to join the Chelsea Medical Clinic as staff physician starting September 10. He and his family plan to reside in Chelsea upon returning to the area.
