Pineapple Turnovers and Bar Cookies from Old Recipe
Sift flour with baking powder soda salt cinnamon and cloves. Cream shortening with brown sugar add egg yolk then flour alternately with milk and vanilla. Bake in a greased 7 by 11 pan 370 F for 30 minutes yields 22 bars. Pineapple turnovers mix flour salt with butter add cold water form dough chill. Cook pineapple with sugar butter lemon peel and cornstarch sauce. Roll dough cut circles fill with pineapple, seal and bake at 400 F 15 to 20 minutes. Yields about 12 turnovers.
