Rio Rancho to send 29 to ARCO Jesse Owens meet in Albuquerque

Rio Rancho Parks and Recreation announces a city team of 29 youths traveling to the ARCO Jesse Owens district meet Sunday May 31 at Milne Stadium Albuquerque. Participants span age groups with listed names. winners may advance to regionals in Phoenix June 13 and nationals in Los Angeles. A Get Fit New Mexico workshop June 6 at Star Heights Recreation Center offers fitness assessments, guidance, logs and a kit for a $5 adult $4 child fee.

Fort Union site records westward forts and a baseball schedule

Wind and memory revive Fort Union National Monument as three forts built 1851 to 1863 mark the path to the West. The fort era ends 1891 and the landscape now hosts adobe walls and a visitor center. Rio Rancho Legion Post 118 opens its season June 2 at Highland High School, with games through June 16, pending changes. call Gene Oles at 898-6122 for details.

Hardiest finish at ARWGA May Playday partners event

On May 19 at Red Tees the ARWGA Playday saw only the diehard partners fight a drizzle to finish the competition. Mary Burette, Katie Holzer and Inez Cox posted a low 59, followed by Clare Boettcher, Ann Schever man and Mary Finnen at 60. Jean Koughan, Pat Bonacorsa and Mary Nash shot 64, while Millie Johnson, Vi lmegger and Mabel Portz grabbed 66 as 12 golfers completed the event and praised the fun despite the rain.

Domino's TeamTennis Debuts In Rio Rancho Area

Domino's TeamTennis launches June 15 in Rio Rancho with leagues in about 160 U S cities. Billie Jean King chairs the league founded to emphasize social fun and team competition. Rio Rancho will host two leagues including husband and wife teams and a junior division for 12 to 16 year olds. No membership fee. Domino's provides shirts and local winners receive awards. West Side YAFL Registration Open May 30 at Ideal Lanes

Final West Side Young American Football League registration set for Saturday May 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ideal Lanes Rio Rancho. Boys eight to fourteen and cheerleaders may register with a parent or guardian. Proof of age required. For details call Bob Stanley after 5 p.m. at 892-1250.
