Bernalillo High School Nears Completion for Fall Opening

Bernalillo High School advances toward a fall opening with a new 76,000 square foot two story building housing classrooms a library and administration offices. The $34 million project begun in March 2014 will replace scattered structures and includes modern labs Mondopads and a cyber cafe.

Rio Rancho man suffers burns in early morning house fire

A Rio Rancho resident was burned while attempting to extinguish a kitchen grease fire on Arlene Road. Firefighters arrived at 2 inch 1 a.m. and knocked down the blaze quickly. The man was taken to hospital with burns to hands arms and feet and later moved to UNM Hospital burn unit. All occupants and a dog escaped. another small dog was found unharmed.

Corrales Bosque Watch Volunteers Help Patrol Fire Rules

Corrales volunteers monitor the bosque to enforce closures and leash laws, educate the public, and report hazards. Fire Chief Anthony Martinez notes volunteers assist with patrols while fire and police handle core duties. Volunteers span Rio Rancho and Albuquerque origins and often patrol about eight hours weekly.
