The Rio Rancho Public Schools Anti Bullying Committee and City host Acts of Kindness Day at Haynes Park from noon to 3 PM with a rain backup to Rio Rancho High School gym. Activities include a chain of kindness pledge booth performances and various student choirs and dances. Regional team aids hiker rescued on Cabezon Peak
A regional technical rescue team from Rio Rancho Sandoval County and Corrales assisted a hiker who fell on Cabezon Peak near Rio Rancho. Firefighters and deputies reached the patient by phone and airlifted him after a two hour effort. The hiker moved with help on one leg but could not navigate the rugged terrain.

Rollins gets 9 year sentence in Delaney shooting
Rollins, 51, was sentenced in District Court for shooting Elvis Delaney and burying him on his Rio Rancho property. Prosecution says Delaney burglarized the property, with Rollins pleading innocence and his attorney seeking a five year reduction for sobriety and low crime risk. Delaney had been missing about five years at arrest. police located the body in a shed after a tip.
