Rats Threaten Idaho Grain Stores Warning From US Wildlife Service

L. S. Twitchell of the US Fish and Wildlife Service calls for a coordinated rodent control effort in Idaho to protect grain and peas. The Norway rat is widespread in the panhandle and several counties, with about 200 million bushels of grain reportedly destroyed annually. Colder weather pushes rodents into shelters, so rat proof buildings are essential. County agents and the University of Idaho offer guidance and access to control poisons through the cooperative program.
