Round of семей birthday party and family notices

Mr and Mrs Ray Nelson and Mr and Mrs Herbert Bowles attended a birthday party for W J Evans at Ross Park Po catello August 5 with a large family reunion. Pvt Lee Goodsell left for Texas after furlough spent with his parents. A 7 pound baby girl born Saturday August 4 at Cache Valley hospital to Mr and Mrs Lewis Stockton. Edith Nelson visiting family from Salt Lake City. Various local visits and travels noted including George McHugh Archie Lott and Luther Fire. Several dinners and family gatherings reported with relatives from Malad Dayton California Benson Ward Cache Junction and Salt Lake City.

Navy aviation squadron suffers 21 casualties off Okinawa

The unit faced heavy losses with 21 casualties listed as killed or missing in action, including two commanding officers. The 12-member fighting squadron reports its busiest Okinawa day as Kamikaze dives targeted Vice Admiral Mitscher's task force. Eight Hellcats intercepted 16 enemy planes, destroying 14 while taking negligible damage themselves. A bombing squadron also claimed enemy aircraft down and helped break up a mass attack on the task force. Mrs. Lilian Radford reports her son Pvt. Dean Radford has been posted to an office in Reims France since the war’s end, after 20 months abroad.
