Preston City Council to Oil Streets This Summer
Olaf Nelson of Logan Utah leads city project to oil and pave several Preston streets this summer. Gravel will be hauled and center strips graded for 18 foot oil application costing about 350 per block or 2500 per mile, funded from operating funds with no tax or bond issues. Paving around the Franklin Stake tabernacle will be done by adjacent taxpayers with curb to center strip oiling on first south and Second east and south streets.

Smith manager outlines formation of the Beet Sugar Development Foundation to coordinate research across 18 states for producers of about 3 billion pounds of beet sugar annually. Independent school districts of Preston West Side and Franklin Bannock counties plan a September 4 election for board members. Filing deadline is August 28. Husband of local physician dies after overseas service
Dr Eugene Roberts husband of local Dr Catherine Foss Roberts died in a New Jersey hospital Thursday at 1 am after being flown from a ship returning from India. The couple had two children James Eugene age five and Jewell Ann age twenty. Catherine had practiced at Los Angeles Hospital while he served overseas. She rushed to join him after learning of his hospitalization.
