Premium lists for the Franklin County Fair to be mailed next week to every farm family. The event at Preston fairgrounds will exceed last year's awards and include thirteen departments under a board led by G. L. Wright with Ralph Millar as executive secretary and manager. Funeral Services for Dr Gilbert W States Held in Salt Lake City
Funeral services were conducted Thursday August 2 1945 at 8 00 p m at the Larkin Mortuary in Salt Lake City for Dr Gilbert W States. Rev Atwood Bird Centenary Methodist Church officiated with organ music scripture prayers and vocal selections by Earle Jester and others. Dr Edmunds Utah State Medical Association secretary reviewed Dr States life and Bishop Frank E Woodward recalled their forty one years of acquaintance praising his charities and medical service. Mrs Grant in Compton Calif reports her brother Glenn Day, a night collector for CF Smith Markets, was shot in the neck and head by four bandits during a Friday night route on July 27. A police officer accompanying him escaped injury as shots went through his hat. Bandits and officer fled with ten thousand dollars.

Labor Urges Use of Imported Help in County
The Franklin County Sugar Company manager Jed Lewis says ample imported labor is available for farmers. Mexican nationals are at a farm labor camp west of town, and 175 German prisoners of war at the PW camp near the sugar factory can also work. Contact U S Employment Office or labor camp for Mexicans, or the sugar company for PW labor. The county labor committee urges utilization to meet claims of need, noting costs regardless of whether labor is employed.

Rodeo Winners Are Announced at Preston Night Show
About 14 000 attended the Preston three night rodeo where 52 cowboys competed.
