Democratic Banquet Draws Large Crowd at Viking Hall

The Democratic Banquet at Viking Hall last Wednesday drew about 125 tickets sold. Toastmaster J. T. Stanton of Stromsburg presided as the program featured a German band performance, a Marian Peterson vocal solo, and an address by Hon. J. N. Norton of Osceola.

Polk High Dramatic Club stages Lookin' Lovely

The Polk High School Dramatic Club presents the play Lookin' Lovely at the Viking theater Tuesday evening at 8. Admission is 15 and 25 cents, proceeds benefit the Visual Education Fund for Polk pupils. Tickets go on sale Monday, November 2.

Popular judge and son turn convict for prison study

Nebraska District Judge Harry D. Landis and his son Frank, a university law student, spent three weeks as inmates at Fort Madison prison to study crime and prison life. They entered as De Witts, learned routine, worked in kitchens and a factory, and observed inmates while reporting findings to governors.

Country Woman's Club Meets With 14 Members and Visitors

The Country Woman's Club met on Tuesday October 22 at Mrs Oscar Person's home with 14 members and 5 visitors present. They embroidered quilt blocks and enjoyed hostess furnished entertainment followed by a two course luncheon. Next meeting will be hosted by Mrs Van Bush with Mrs Ostberg assisting.

Mrs Wm Ice Found Dead at Son's Home

Mrs Wm Ice age 75 was found dead Wednesday at the home of her son Dan Ice. Dr Williams attributed the death to a heart attack. She is survived by daughter Mrs Johnie Johnson and son J W Ice. funeral arrangements incomplete.

Hordville Social Scene Sees Move and Celebrations

Mr and Mrs Vern Jones plan to relocate this week to the farm west of town recently vacated by Arvid Stranberg. Wayne Jones marks his third birthday with a family supper at the August Anderson home as Amos Senkbile and Shirley and Wayne attend. Multiple local residents visit and attend Homecoming events at Nebraska Central College with many names listed among attendees. A five pound girl is born to Mr and Mrs Lloyd Benson. Various church and school groups meet, and subscriptions for Omaha and Lincoln papers are offered locally. Families host and visit across Hordville with gatherings at the Jones, Erickson, Blomquist, Benson, and Gustafson homes.
