18 Passenger Aircraft to Carry Mail in Lincoln–Great Liners

Boeing officials say seven 18 passenger tri motor air liners are ready with more on the way. The long distance air mail route across Nebraska will start this month with full passenger service not until next year. Ground improvements and hangars with 80 foot wingspans delay completion. Since May the planes have flown western division routes. eastern division flights will begin with dusk service. By Christmas 14 ground stations and radio equipment will be installed for constant pilot communication and a weather reporting service. Two planes per continental flight are planned in each direction with Cheyenne as the transfer point.

Arrow Found In Bones Of Bison In Nebraska

An ancient flint arrow head found among petrified bison bones in Custer county suggests early human activity in Nebraska. Work by C B Schultz and E Blackman at Nebraska University assesses its age and culture implications, noting bone depth implies long elapsed time and fossilization could be 150000 years. Lincoln also reports gasoline tax distributions of 23492181 dollars to counties in September receipts.

Wakefield Road to be graveled under new bid

Wakefield eight miles west will gain a two inch gravel layer on road No. 35 after a first contract was disallowed for improper advertising. New bids raised cost to 19.6 cents per square yard. Grading nearly done and gravel to be spread by December 1 linking Wakefield to Lincoln and Omaha. No gravel to Sioux City yet.

Auburn to Turn Tract Into City Park With Pool

The city buys a 680 by 380 foot parcel adjoining the business district for a park and municipal swimming pool. Engineers from Kansas City drill on Jack Herman ranch seeking potash deposits possible 20 miles southeast of Alliance at 800 feet depth. Citizens graded ten blocks in Blue Springs using gravel from a city pit at no cost, linking churches, schools, and the Cornhusker highway surfacing.

Lincoln officers of First National Bank announced formation of a $20 million banking concern to be the First Nebraska Bancorporation. It will be incorporated in Delaware and represents majority stockholders in two banks with resources totaling $22 million.

Gordon approves airport bonds for city route plan

A 10 000 bond issue will fund Gordon airport construction with a special election set for October 22. Land half a mile from town is under review as potential site, amid hopes Gordon joins the Omaha to Rapid City airmail corridor.

Senate group OKs Federal Farm Board nominations

The Senate Agriculture Committee approved eight nominations to the Federal Farm Board, with most votes unanimous. Lambasts against three members included Alexander Legge, Carl Williams of Oklahoma, and Samuel R. McKelvie of Nebraska. A Chicago conference was set for October 23 to plan a national livestock cooperative marketing group involving major co-ops and farm organizations. The Farmers National Grain Corporation was shaped to market wheat, aiming to begin by November 1 with offices in major grain centers.
