What Can Extension Service Do For You This Winter

Polk County farmers have six crop production meetings planned this winter with expert Nebraska Extension staff. Sessions run December 12 and December 19 in three locations, covering herbicides insecticides fertility and diseases, with no cost and three hours each. Additional programs include Cat tlemen's Calendar and Pork Spotlight TV series and a pork producers hotline.

Fall ammonia application urged to boost next spring yields

Farmers are advised to apply ammonia nitrogen in the fall to match or exceed spring yields. Extension data from Corn Belt farmers shows fall nitrogen can equal spring applications, with an additional 10 percent recommended.
