District 44 Versatile Community Notes and Gatherings

The J U G Club met at Bertha Nyberg home with Ellen Bay leading a Armistice Day program. Social events include oyster supper and box social by Scheapler crew and a 80th birthday party for Alfred Anderson. Multiple marriages and local visits cross Polk and surrounding areas.

American Junior Auxiliary plans Christmas program

On Tuesday November 18 the American Junior Auxiliary held its second meeting of the year led by President Gail Widga. The group decided a Christmas program for senior members and made turkey napkin holders for the Osceola hospital after the meeting. Lunch was served by Mrs Blanche Fitz and Mrs Noel Kealiher.

Local Hosts Welcome Visitors Over Weekend in Polk

Reverend and Mrs Dan Ankerberg of Hillside Illinois were house guests of Mr and Mrs P W Aker. Mr and Mrs Larry Coover and Eddie joined Sunday dinner at Dave Ekdahl home. Dodge Clardy of Clarks visited Mr and Mrs Joe Ehn and Marvin Branting's family dropped by David City homes Saturday afternoon and evening.

Polk High Graduates Sign for Navy and Social Notes

Ten years prior three Polk High School 1959 graduates Roger Brazda Gerald Cline and Fred Dorriburgh joined the Navy. The column lists funeral attendance parties birthdays farewells and anniversary celebrations for local residents including Elmer Hanquist Walter Nelson JoHla Stromberg and Cheryl’s first birthday among others in the community.

Swede Home News Highlights Weekend Visits

Mr and Mrs Evan Nordstrom of Fremont spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs David Jones. Several guests visited in area homes including Mrs Edgar Peterson Mrs Kenneth Larson Mrs Vance Toline and Mrs Ruth Gestrine with Mrs DeVon Johnson and family in Omaha.

Country Women Meet in Thanksgiving Club Gathering

The Country Women's Club met on Thursday November 20 with 13 members present. They opened with a prayer of Thanksgiving flag salute and pledge and approved sending 5 to Betty Rutherford of Central City for a kidney transplant. Program leaders were Bea Johnson and Elaine Stromberg. The program featured a TV Thanksgiving segment and a poem by Joe Ostberg and Helen Samuels, followed by lunch. The next meeting will be at Irma Adel's with a 1 PM luncheon and lunch was provided by Ida Coover.

Social Security Claims Rep to Visit Osceola

Marie E. Raeder, Claims Representative from Lincoln, will visit the Osceola courthouse on the second floor Wednesday December 3 1969 from 9 30 to 11 30 A M. She will provide detailed information on disability benefits and how they apply to those aged 62 to 65.
