Mrs. Floyd Miller Fatally Injured In Rural Road Crash

Berniece Katharine Miller age 61 of Polk was killed when her car collided with Neal Van Housen's pickup two miles west and one mile north of Polk. Van Housen suffered head injuries. he was hospitalized at Central City. Services were held at Polk United Methodist Church with burial at Arborville Cemetery.

Funeral services were held for John Wesley Lampshire aged 70. Born in Central City he spent his early years on a farm near Hordville before moving to Lincoln at 14 where he worked in carpentry. Thanksgiving guests from Central City Fort Dodge Iowa and Lincoln attended family dinners.

Four incumbents have filed for county offices in the primary election. Dale Frizzell runs as Democrat for County Clerk, Louise Timm as Republican for County Treasurer, Ceva Carlson as Republican for Clerk of the District Court, and Reynold Peterson as Republican for County Sheriff.

Union Service At Baptist Church Polk

A union service is set for Sunday evening December 7 at 7 00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Polk. Rev Paul W Unruh of Omaha Nebraska will present a program titled Magic With A Message revealing scripture truths in simple form. Unruh appears monthly on TV in Plain Talk With Pastor Jerry and is director of Rehabilitation and Education at Island of Hope Rescue Mission. He was named Magician of the Year in 1963 by the Society of American Magicians. He will also speak at Polk High School on Monday December 8 at 9 00 AM. public invited.

Meetings On Milo And Corn Extension Program

Polk County Extension Service will hold six meetings across Shelby Stromsburg Osceola and Silver Creek to advise farmers on corn and Milo production. Ken Krieg notes experts will discuss insects weeds fertility and diseases and warns against laxity after a strong crop.
