Polk residents gather for Kroger 65th birthday honors

Employees of the Omaha Division and field 26 Stand ard Oil honored W J Kroger on his 65th birthday and retirement after 15 years as Polk agent. A 40 by 50 building for three maintainers was planned in Polk with Will Garling and Dwayne Hahn starting work on the shed. Dale Peterson and Donald Nyberg were among locals out of school with mumps.

County Commissioners Approve Land Sale and Equipment Lease

Polk County officials meet in regular session to audit claims and approve a lease with The Island Supply Company for an Austin Western motor grader. They also authorize sale of Lots 8–11 in Anderson's Addition to Polk and approve Norton as trustee of the Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Hospital. Meeting adjourns at noon.
